The term brace, meaning a pair of gamebirds, pistols or dogs has been in use for a long time (c1400). Unfortunately for this shot I concentrated on the nearer Grouse so the back one isn't in focus, nor is it fully in the frame. But I still quite liked the composition of two Grouse in flight. I see Red Grouse on a daily basis but when I flush them they usually fly away, so not great for photography. That is also why grouse shooters use a line of beaters to scare the grouse so that they fly over the line of guns. Fortunately these two were more interested in each other than in me, so I managed a better angle than usual.
